In 2005, Jack and Miriam Shenkman approached the Jewish Hospice & Chaplaincy Network with the concept of creating a training program. The Shenkmans began by making a gift to fund The Jack & Miriam Shenkman Caregiving Fellowship Team, an educational development initiative to train the best professionals in end-of-life care. This program educates JHCN caregivers so every member of our Jewish community can be assured of quality care during a serious or terminal illness.
Three years ago the Shenkmans expanded their vision to improve end-of-life health care in southeast Michigan, and the Caring Coalition was born. This coalition is comprised of the area's major healthcare systems, hospices, senior care facilities, social service agencies, clergy and community partners. Their common goal: to offer the highest level of continuing education to professionals caring for the sick, the elderly and those who are dying.
Thanks to their vision and generosity, Jack and Miriam Shenkman help provide a better quality of life for all who live in southeast Michigan.
Our thanks & appreciation to jack & miriam shenkman for their vision and generosity in creating the jack & miriam shenkman caregiving fellowship team for the jewish hospice & chaplaincy network. Their actions and commitment have served as the catalyst for the development of the caring coalition's annual conferences. The shenkman's gifts provide continuing education and training for the finest hospice and palliative caregivers in order to ensure no jew is ever alone.
