We Make EVERY Hospice a Jewish Hospice!
People often ask us if the Jewish Hospice & Chaplaincy Network is the Jewish hospice. In fact, there is no one, single, Jewish hospice. Because of the innovative and groundbreaking work of Jewish Hospice & Chaplaincy Network, every hospice in our community is, in effect, a “Jewish Hospice.”
The nature of today’s complex medical delivery systems results in multiple, often competing, agencies caring for the terminally ill. Hospitals, nursing homes, home care agencies, and hospices compete to provide services to the terminally ill and their families.
In southeastern Michigan there are nearly 30 hospices, including independent, private, not-for-profit and for-profit facilities, and large healthcare system-affiliated hospices.
In response to the needs of the terminally ill, the Jewish community chose not to compete with these excellent programs. Instead, it created a network of services to provide spiritual care, social work, volunteer programs, health care advice, oversight and guidance to support patients and their families in each and every one of these health care and hospice agencies and facilities. All of these services are designed by the Jewish community for our community.
In this way, we don’t compete with these fine agencies; we enhance their services by helping them deliver the best possible care to their Jewish patients.
Jewish families can be certain no matter which health care systems they are a part of, the Jewish Hospice & Chaplaincy Network will be there to help.
The network partners with more than 15 hospices and health care systems to provide compassionate and loving clinical care. Hospice care focuses on providing patients with comfort care. Hospice emphasizes pain control, symptom management, and supportive care that enhances quality of life. In addition, the network provides spiritual care, guidance, volunteers and social work, for patient and family all in a Jewish context.
The Jewish Hospice & Chaplaincy Network is the organized response of the Jewish community to provide care and support for all Jewish terminally ill and their families in Southeast Michigan. The network seeks to insure that “No Jew is Ever Alone” as they approach the end of their lives or they are participating in the end of life journey with someone they love.
WE ARE YOUR JEWISH COMMUNITY…and we are proud to provide the Jewish presence
